The Steering Committee of the AMR Partnership Platform plays a pivotal role in coordinating the Platform’s activities and driving the implementation of its priorities, plans, and proposals as endorsed by the Plenary. It ensures strategic direction, promotes collaboration, and supports resource mobilization to advance global efforts in combating antimicrobial resistance (AMR).

Key Responsibilities:

- Coordination and guidance: The Steering Committee provides overall direction to the Platform, fostering the continuous development of its vision and strategy.

- Resource Mobilization: It facilitates funding and resource mobilization to support AMR initiatives.

- Support and monitoring: The Committee supports the functioning of Clusters and Action Groups, monitors their progress, and reports to the Plenary.

- Endorsements: It endorses proposals for new Action Groups and internal and external communication strategies.

The Steering Committee is composed of:

- One (1) representative from each Quadripartite organization.

- One (1) member from each of the five (5) Clusters.

- A Chairperson and a Vice-Chair appointed by the Committee from among its members.

Members serve a four-year term, with provisions for rotation to ensure continuity and balance. The Committee upholds geographical, sectoral, and gender balance in its composition.

The Steering Committee meets on a quarterly basis, with meetings organized in person, hybrid, or virtual formats as needed. Decisions are made by consensus whenever possible or by a simple majority if needed.

The Committee may invite observers from governmental institutions, intergovernmental organizations, or non-state actors to participate in meetings, enriching discussions with diverse perspectives.
The Steering Committee is instrumental in ensuring the AMR Partnership Platform remains action-oriented, fostering collaboration and driving impactful solutions to address the global AMR challenge.
