Biography

Professor Teresa Estrada-Garcia - Professor at the Molecular Biomedicine Department, Centro de

Investigación y de Estudios Avanzados del Instituto Politécnico Nacional (CINVESTAV-IPN), Mexico.

As a leading researcher in molecular epidemiology of foodborne pathogens of public health importance, Professor Estrada-Garcia has contributed to the development of One Health-based surveillance and data analyses of pathogens. She is a member of the Latin American Coalition for Escherichia coli Research and the National Academy of Medicine. She was the president of the Mexican Association of Microbiology and was a member of the WHO Foodborne Disease Burden Epidemiology Reference Group (FERG 2). Her research and publications focus on the molecular and genomic epidemiology of pathogenic E. coli and infections, host-pathogen interactions through microbiome studies, and intestinal immune response.
