Oluwawemimo Adebowale - Veterinary Epidemiologist, Associate Professor and

Medicine, Federal University of Agriculture Abeokuta, Ogun State, Nigeria.

Dr Adebowale leads the AMU and AMR research groups, AMURECOH (Antimicrobial Use and Resistance in E. coli within One Health system) and AMUCAN (Antimicrobial Use in companion animal hospitals/Practices) which focuses on AMR and AMU surveillance in food animal production systems.

She investigates the social and anthropogenic drivers associated with indiscriminate AMU and the impact on food safety and public health in Nigeria. Her published research highlights surveillance and mitigation within a One Health context. She will investigate the genomic epidemiology of AMR Brucella in humans, slaughtered food animals, and abattoir environments in Nigeria in collaboration with partners from Nigeria, Sudan and Malaysia. Her work also involves an evidence-based community engagement component aimed at antimicrobial stewardship and containment of AMR.
