Biography

Professor Katharina Stärk - Veterinary Public Health Expert, Head of Department Animal Health,

Federal Food Safety and Veterinary Office, Switzerland

She leads in national and supranational development and strengthening of One Health approaches, specifically on AMU and AMR surveillance and risk assessments. She was WP lead on the EFFORT project on AMR in the Food Chain and was project coordinator on several EU 7th Framework programme research consortium projects on animal health surveillance. She represented Switzerland in the Codex Alimentarius Task Force on AMR. She has extensively researched AMR and AMU surveillance at all levels across academic, industrial, governmental, and multilateral organizations. She has published extensively on risk analysis and assessment in relation to animal and public health (zoonoses), AMR in food animals, transboundary infectious diseases, and complex food systems.
