He leads the National Reference Laboratory for salmonellosis and the National Reference Laboratory for antimicrobial resistance (AMR). He provides technical and strategic advice to the national authorities and serves as an expert to the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) network for AMR monitoring, the One Health European Joint Programme (OHEJP), ENOVAT Cost Action on the optimization of veterinary antimicrobial treatment, Codex Alimentarius Task Force on AMR, and the WAWES network on AMR in the environment. As a research lead, he uses microbiological and molecular testing, including whole-genome sequencing and culture-independent metagenomics to conduct research on improved diagnostics, epidemiology and disease control based on a One Health concept.
