He has extensive expertise in the development and implementation of research and policy at the intersection of the environment and public health. He is engaged with and/or leads several national and supranational scientific and policy committees working on the environmental dimension of AMR e.g., ICSU Program Human health and wellbeing in changing urban environment, Singapore-Beijing Oxford Research and Enterprise (SPORE), and the Chinese Academy of Sciences. He has provided expert and strategic advice to WHO, FAO and UNEP on environmental contamination of food systems and AMR in the environment. He researches and publishes on the dynamics of AMR in the different components of the ecosystem using both metagenomics and high throughput molecular methods. His work also encompasses assessing potential human risks through exposure to environmental AMR.
