Dr Gilani (DVM, Ph.D.) is an Associate Professor of Microbiology at the University of Agriculture, Faisalabad, Pakistan. He is a WOAH regional resource person on AMR/AMU in animals for Asia and the Pacific (RRAP) and sub-regional representation for South-East Asia (SRR SEA). He served as technical advisor on surveillance of AMU in food animals in Pakistan under Fleming Fund country grant. He is on the FAO/WHO Roster of Experts on Foodborne AMR. His research focuses on the genomic epidemiology of multidrug-resistant bacteria at the human-animal interface using a One-Health approach. He is the lead and co-author of more than 75 publications in the field of AMR and AMU, drawing inferences and comparisons between local, regional and global data as part of international consortia of expertise and data such as SEDRIC/Wellcome Trust, UK.
