Dr Carolee Carson – Surveillance Manager, Analysis and Communication lead of the Canadian
Integrated Program for Antimicrobial Resistance Surveillance (CIPARS) at the Public Health Agency
of Canada
She has extensive experience in data collection, analyses, and reporting of integrated AMR and AMU surveillance information in Canada. She participated in the development of a Canadian minimum dataset for AMU collection from animals, quantification of veterinary antimicrobial usage at herd level, and analyses to inform stewardship activities. She has engaged with the Quadripartite by providing technical input to the Codex Guidelines for Integrated Monitoring and Surveillance of Foodborne AMR and developing the One Health Priority Research Agenda for AMR. She has been a member of WOAH’s ad-hoc groups for developing a global database on antimicrobial agents intended for use in animals and the AMU Technical Reference Group. She engages with national and supranational research consortia focussed on AMU surveillance in livestock and food systems.
